Alexander Isaris (born 1941) is a writer, translator, painter, graphic designer and photographer. He was born in Serres and established in Athens since 1978. He has published five poetry collections: The Friends of the Sea club – The Balancer (1976), The Side Effects of Silence (1984), The Tristans (1992), I Will Return Bright (2000) and Me a Stranger (2013). Two books with his short stories have been released: Among them, Music (1991 and 1998) and Winkelman or the Destiny (2010). He has also published a study for R.M. Ricke under the title Under the eyelids, as well as a book with George Hemona’s manuscripts that are in his archive. In 1998, he released a photo album entitled Faces of Twenty Years. He has translated over thirty books and has been honored with the following awards: Maria Ralli Award (1977), National Translation Award for Thomas Bernhardt’s Concrete (1977) and two EKEMEL Prizes for the Book of Ludwig Tieck The Blonde Eckbert – The Runenberg (2007) as well as the Letters to a young poet by Rainer Maria Rilke (2011). In 2014, he was awarded the Public Prize for the book I a Stranger.In October 2017 he made his first solo exhibition entitled “Pictures of a Lifetime”.

    Alexander Issaris began in April 1981 to record the events of every day and every night in a 100-page booklet. When a few months ago he decided to publish a book about his dreams, he found that eighty-five dreams were recorded, which became forty-seven after a very tough selection. This was called the Book of Dreams to reminiscence Andrei Tarkovsky’s Martyrolog.
