Roula Georgakopoulou was born in 1955 in Kalamata and studied French Literature at the University of Athens. She worked for a decade in schools in the province and then turned professionally to journalism. She was editor-in-chief or columnist in magazines, editor-in-chief in the cultural section of the newspaper TO VIMA, and columnist in the newspaper TA NEA with which she collaborates to this day. Six of her plays have been performed on Athenian stages from 1986 until today. One of them (Polydouri Street) was nominated for the Karolos Koun Award 2014, translated by Michel Volkovitch, and released in France. She has also published her collection of newspaper columns entitled “Woman of Medium Height,” the group of drama “Pins on the knees” and the proses “Trees, many Trees” and “The method of the bubble.” In addition, she has translated several literary books from French.
