Maria Yiayiannou has written prose, theatre, essays, and children’s books. She studied Communication & Media (EKPA), Cultural Management (Panteion University), and Philosophy of Art (ASFA, AUTh). She curates art exhibitions and other cultural events. She has published twelve books. Her theatrical works have been performed on stages in Athens and in Milan. Her novel The Ghost Member (Melani, 2020) was nominated for the Anagnostis Literary Awards and the Athens Prize for Literature. Her first fairy tale, The Rabbit Hutch (illus. by K. Theocharis, Kalendis, 2021), was nominated for the Charter Awards and the IBBY (Greek Children’s Book Cycle). She participates as a playwright in the Athens Conservatory’s project HUMANITAS / From the Stage for LGBTQ teenagers’ human rights, which will be completed in 2023. She lives and works in Athens.

    A contemplative adventure is broken into standalone observations on the influence of the dominant social medium of our daily lives. Regularly the reader rests over (invented) tombs of people who have passed on and been snatched by the digital graveyard. Twelve plus one epigraphs intersperse the narrative and introduce the reader to the respective fictional personalities who, though deceased, continue to live.
