Suleiman wrote more than 500 poems in Persian and Turkish with the pseudonym Muhibbi (in love, lover, loyal friend, initiated in the dervish philosophy). His poetry covers a broad subject area. He writes about war, God, authority, death, but only some of his erotic poems have been selected for this collection. The poet works with allegories and personifications, using codes that have passed through the Arabs to the West. The poetic skill of Sofia Dionysopoulou transforms them ideally into our language.
