Leila Slimani was born in Rabat, Morocco in 1981, and came to Paris at the age of 18. She studied Political Science and began working as a journalist at Jeune Afrique’s weekly French-language pan-African magazine. Her first novel, “Dans le jardin de l’ogre”, was published by Gallimard in 2014. Two years later, “Chanson douce”, published by the same publisher, won the Goncourt 2016 Award. It has been released in Greek under the title “Sweet song”.
