Alexis Ragougneau (born 1973) is a playwright and novelist. He has published twelve plays, most of which have been performed on stage in France and Switzerland. He has also written the detective novels “The Madonna of Notre Dame” (published by Stereoma Publications) and “Évangile pour un gueux,” which were enthusiastically received by readers in France and abroad. His novel Niels was on the final shortlist for the 2017 Prix Goncourt.

The narrative begins on the day after the 15th of August in Notre-Dame, Paris. A young woman, very beautiful, dressed in white, is dead in the vicinity of the cathedral. A suspect is arrested very soon, but the police seem to confuse the speed of action with the haste to close the case.
