Vangelis Pantazis (1947-2017) was born in Monolithi, Ioannina. He studied Law at the University of Athens. In 1998 he was awarded a Doctor of History at the Ionian University (his thesis on Orientation to the Ancient Greeks was rated “Excellent”). For three years he taught History of Geographical Ideas and Historical Geography of Europe at the University of the Aegean. In addition to his many articles published in newspapers and scientific journals on political and social issues, and in addition to the constant columns that he kept in the magazines “I Read” and “The Books’ Journal”, the books of have been published: (1989) Maps and Ideologies, Kalvos, Athens; (1996) Homeric Geography and Homeric Era, I. The Elimination of Ancient Greece and the Problem of Mycenae, Kastaniotis Publishing House, Athens (2002) Homeric Zakynthos, the “sacred” Echines and the mystery of the lost Dulichium, Periplous, Athens (2006) Homer and Troy. Interpreting the New Findings, Ed. Institute of the Book – A. Kardamitsa, Athens (2009) “Kings” from the sea. From qa-si-re-we of Linear B to pa-si-le-se of Cyprus, Athens. He was married and had two daughters.
